Pinot Noir 2017
$35.00
Description
MV6 clone, fermented in small batches with mix of cultured and wild yeast, maturation in French oak (new-6 yo) for 10 months. The vineyard at Smythes Creek, west of Ballarat, is on ‘harsh’ goldfields soil and at a decent elevation of 425m. It delivers a sinewy, mineral-edged pinot noir, a style increasingly associated with the Ballarat region. Red fruits inhabit the wine, redcurrant, sour cherry, cranberry with nettle, weed, forest floor. The fine herbal line is maintained on the palate. It’s a cold climate, firm expression unlike most pinots you taste.
